Summary:
This project focused on the intellectual transformations and internal crises of the 17th-century Ottoman Empire, with particular emphasis on the contributions of Yanyalı Esad Efendi, a distinguished scholar of the period. Situated within the classical tradition of Ottoman scholarship, Esad Efendi also introduced innovative perspectives that were examined in detail during the research. The project aimed to shed light on a pivotal moment in Ottoman intellectual history and to explore how Islamic thought evolved and responded to emerging challenges of its time. It offers a significant contribution to the understanding of the early modern Islamic intellectual landscape.
